The inability to attain or maintain an erection adequate for satisfactory sex Also known as “erectile dysfunction” (ED). We all take our bodies for granted. When we would like to run we anticipate our legs to respond and once we would like to repair our automobile engine, we anticipate our hands to honor. However, when it comes to making love, occasionally our manhood does not wish to react leaving us with a lifeless limp and much worse. .complete humiliation.
Causes of Impotence
The causes of impotence fall into two categories: organic and psychological. Emotional triggers include and aren’t restricted to performance anxiety, work problems, unstable relationship, anxiety or depression, and financial depression. This was once believed to be the root of impotence, but in recent research organic problems can cause impotence in men over 50 decades of age. Organic causes are if body mechanisms do not work properly and might consist of poor blood flow, poor health, and diet, trauma, or a medication reaction. Young men can be impotent because of organic reasons.
The main source of impotence, as well as the most serious in young guys, is”anxiety about performance” and it stems only from one source: the brain! Performance Anxiety is a hormone stopper. The more you worry, the harder it is to get tough. The harder it is to get hard, the more you worry! This becomes a vicious cycle.
Advice for Treatment of Impotence
Psychological
First, before you try to treat impotence, make sure you do have a problem. If you have a problem with erection once in a great while or it takes you longer to get a full erection…don’t worry it is part of getting older and is common. By nature, it takes us longer to get a full, strong erection as we age. However, if you are unable to achieve an erection for 2-4 weeks in a row or 70% or more of the time you attempt sex – then it is time to take action.
If you believe your impotence is due to stress or depression, you should address the problem and NOT ignore it. Talking about your problem is the best you can do for this type of cause. Find out exactly what is your stress or depression and help it. Going to a professional might also help in discovering the real cause and treating it. Seeking a specialist will help determine the cause of your impotence, be it a psychological or organic.
– Treating Performance Anxiety –
Most men sometimes worry about their sexual performance; did I give her the best performance last night; did I bring to orgasm; was I better than her last boyfriend; or was she totally satisfied??? These are common questions among men and for the most part aren’t really major concerns. However, when a man finds himself having difficulty getting an erection and/or sustaining it for long enough time for satisfactory sex, this worry (performance anxiety) can be serious.
Once a man has difficulty achieving an erection (ED), he may look upon this as devastation to his sex life or become overly-concerned which in any
case is not a good start. What generally happens is the next time he may not feel so “confident” and be thinking about his “erection problem” before sex or during foreplay which may lead to another disappointment, simply because of the psychological reaction to the “involuntary” nervous system called the Autonomic Nervous System.
The Autonomic Nervous System is divided into two smaller systems:
Parasympathetic and Sympathetic.
When a man has aroused the receptors in the Parasympathetic Nervous System is activated and begins bringing the blood to the penis causing an erection. This is a normal function when beginning a sexual encounter. The problem lies when a man thinks about his problem (ED) and takes it so seriously…that the Parasympathetic System doesn’t function properly. Too many “negative” thoughts create a poor environment and may actually stimulate the Sympathetic System which creates a smooth muscle contraction, thus resulting in a flaccid penis.
You can see why Performance Anxiety can be dangerous. Allowing yourself to constantly thinking about this and subjecting yourself to mental anguish will only make things worse in time. The more you think about it the worse it becomes…this is a vicious cycle and needs to be treated immediately!
If you believe you have “performance anxiety”, the best treatment is to hit it on the head. First, be honest with yourself and discover why you have this anxiety or fear. Once you have answered that, bring this to the attention of your partner. This is important! You have to be open and honest with your sexual partner no matter what the situation or how embarrassing it is to discuss it. You will feel better bringing it out to the open and be more comfortable when it comes time to make love.
Our advice is to follow these steps
to help treat Performance Anxiety:
- Discover why you have “performance anxiety” is the first step in treating impotence.
- Talk about it with your partner is the second step.
- The next step is to “train the brain”. This is fun and easy. After discovering what it is that causes performance anxiety, play with that idea. Spend lots of time with foreplay and don’t worry about intercourse – put intercourse on hold.Fondle, caress, tease, touch, kiss your partner and let him/her do the same to you be sure you fulfill your every sexual desire and fantasy. Do what makes you feel comfortable and disregard performance and trying to please your partner (this comes later). By doing this regularly, you get comfortable (sexually) with your partner and slowly the “anxiety” or “fear” disappears! When this happens – you feel better thus greatly increasing your chances of success.
- When you start getting erections beyond your control – then go for it! Explore intercourse differently. Try different positions, places, themes, etc. By doing this, sex then becomes a whole new and joyful experience, sometimes like it was the first time. This is great therapy and will end “performance anxiety”.
Organic
Treating impotence by organic causes can be done several ways. The first and best advice we can give is to seek a urologist or specialist. They can find the real source of the organic or physical cause of your impotence. Also by eating properly and getting plenty of exercises can greatly help in reducing impotence in the long-run. Here are a few examples:
- Cutting the fat – If you’re impotent now or even if you’re not, start now by cutting down of fatty foods. Begin a low-fat diet. Fat and cholesterol can clog your penis arteries just like it can clog the blood flow through your heart. Limit red meat, eggs, whole milk, and other fatty foods. Opt for fish, chicken, egg whites, skim milk. Limit junk-food too. Eat lots of fresh fruit, veggies, and whole grains.
- Aerobic exercise – What’s good for the heart is good for the Penis too. Aerobic exercise increases blood flow and good blood flow is great for strong, healthy erections. To get the “up and up” going – do about 30 minutes of exercise at least three times per week.
- Smoke blows the pipe – Did you know smoking causes blood vessels throughout your entire body to constrict, causing a poor erection or none at all? Smoking just 2 – 3 cigarettes can inhibit an erection. If possible, just kick the habit for good. If you cannot do that, then don’t smoke for about several hours before sex.
- Take a dose of R &R – Stress can be a very common cause of impotence especially if you work many hours, commute bumper-to-bumper, and have a hectic lifestyle. Take a rest each night after work; walk for a little, read, exercise, or just listen to soothing music. That extra treatment each night will make a world of difference when it comes time to rise to the occasion.
Alternative Treatments
There is another alternative method to treating impotence and that is using lotions, oil or prescribed drugs. We have searched the Internet for such treatments and have many, but only listed the ones we feel are worthy. The Internet is filled with poor quality products that just don’t live up to what they claim. Here are the few QUALITY products
that are worth looking into:
- VIAGRA™ – We all know what VIAGRA is and does, but we found a website that offers it for a discounted price.
- Vig RX Oil – (Viagra Alternative) This topical oil you actually apply directly on the penis just before sex to give you an instant erection! Men have claimed it begins working immediately within 1 – 2 minutes. Erections can last up to an hour or longer. Use with caution.
Today there are medical procedures to treat impotence if you have it severely. We don’t necessarily recommend these types of treatments for impotence. Here are some of the common medical procedures available:
- The Injection Erection – Self-injection is safe, natural and highly effective, however, involves injecting one’s self in the penis on both sides into the corpa cavernosa. Lots of men are quite squeamish about this and look for alternate methods. The drug injected will cause a hard, long-lasting erection in 10 – 25 minutes.
- Penis Pump – A drug-free alternative is the penis pump. It is a specialized vacuum concoction that draws blood into the penis. When an erection is achieved, a ring is slipped around the base of the penis and traps blood and sustains an erection. When used properly – it is usually safe and effective, although some men report discomfort and have trouble ejaculating.
- Penile Prosthesis – This is the most drastic and permanent solution for impotence. An artificial rod or pump is surgically placed inside the penis. The rod is semi-rigid and is sometimes adequate for intercourse while the pump is “pumped” by the client when ready for sex. These operations are costly and have been reported to fail about 50% of the time.
